We didn’t plan to be in the rental business, it just happened. We had to relocate; the house wouldn’t sell.
At the time, I thought property management was about cashing a rent check, so I thought I’d save money by managing it myself.
He had to learn the hard way.
You know, it wasn’t simple at all trying to get the tenants to pay on time, dealing with the excuses, the emergency call in the middle of the night, it was so disruptive.
And the maintenance, I mean I know it is necessary, but the time and expense. I was paying top dollar for everything, and, of course, we didn’t do any inspection, which could have helped us avoid problems that really cost us.
